At Dell View, we’re raising money in memory of Carl, one of our beloved carers, who lost his battle to Sarcoma Cancer in July 2024.
Carl was more than just a caregiver at Dell View ; he was our friend, mentor, and advocate for independence. His dedication to those in his care was unwavering, and he spent nine years making sure they felt special, valued, and capable. Whether it was taking them on holidays, teaching them to cook, or even setting up a camping experience in the garden for those who couldn’t afford a trip, Carl's commitment knew no bounds.
In his final days, he was supported by the wonderful team at Beccles and District War Memorial Hospital (East Coast Community Healthcare CIC).
To honour his memory and continue his legacy, our tenants are embarking on a heartfelt journey: a 200-mile walk, the equivalent of the distance from Lowestoft to Leeds. This distance is symbolic, as Carl was a huge fan of Emmerdale, and regularly took one of his tenants to the studios in Leeds.
The funds raised through this GoFundMe campaign will be dedicated to two meaningful causes:
- Supporting Beccles and District War Memorial Hospital, who provided Carl with exceptional care and support during his battle with sarcoma cancer. Your donations will help ensure that other patients receive the same compassionate care.
- Creating a Memorial Garden at Dell View, offering tenants a safe space to reflect, think, and find peace — a fitting tribute to a man who dedicated his life to their wellbeing.
Carl's influence extended beyond daily care. He promoted independence, encouraged learning, and fostered self-worth among the tenants. He reunited one of our tenants, Lee, with his long-lost adopted family — and helped him to maintain a relationship with them, supported fundraising for cancer research, and made sure everyone felt like they belonged.
He saw the potential in everyone and worked tirelessly to help them see it in themselves. As the tenants of Dell View take on this walking challenge, they’re not just raising funds — they’re remembering Carl's mission of love, care, and empowerment.
If you’re able, we’d appreciate anything you can give towards our goal. Your donation will help make a real difference, and we thank you for your generosity — and for helping us keep Carl's spirit alive.
