Raise money for the Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team

Hello!

This April 13th, we (Rob & Luke) will be running the Wexford half marathon. I (Rob) completed my first half-marthon in April 2024 but I've been smoking like an industrial chimney since then & haven't ran since, so promising to do another one by April 2025 is a brave move. Luke ran a half marathon in March 2023, is riddled with injuries and in his own words "has indulged" over the last six months as well, so he's in the same boat. We've decided to use this as an excuse to raise funds for the Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team.

On the 20th of June 2024, we lost our good friend Harry O'Shea to a motorcycle accident at Turlough Hill in County Wicklow. Despite the late hour, the Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team were there within minutes. Their compassion, commitment and dedication was incredible and we'd like to pay them back by raising a few bob for them, and we also think it'd be a nice way to remember Harry. We doubt he would have done the running with us but he wouldn't miss the pints afterwards.

Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team (DWMRT) is a volunteer rescue service, available 24 hours per day, every day, to respond to emergencies in upland areas of Dublin, Wicklow, and Louth. DWMRT's mission is to provide a professional-standard, voluntary emergency rescue service. The team comprises 60 highly-trained, motivated, volunteer mountain rescuers, coming from all walks of life, and united by a common love of the outdoors. . Although partially funded by the government, the team rely on donations to cover much of their operational costs.

Any donation large or small would be hugely appreciated. We'll keep you updated here with our runs and progress, so that you may laugh at our lack of lung capacity and weak, frail ankles. Well the ankles in my case. Luke has big, strong manly ankles. Either way we'll keep you updated here. Thanks!
