raise money for people with cancer who need more support

Hey my name is Emily.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and this cause is incredibly close to my heart.

Three years ago, at just 25 years old, with no family history of cancer, I was diagnosed with grade 3, stage 2 hormonal breast cancer. The cause? Still unknown. I was told I had caught it just in time only months away from being terminal.

People often ask how I found the lump. The truth is, it was pure luck. I felt exhausted all the time, lost my appetite, and knew deep down something wasn’t right with my body. But as a single mum to an energetic 18-month-old, I blamed it on tiredness and stress.

Everything happened so fast. Within the blink of an eye, I was thrown into 3 and a half months of intense chemotherapy, followed by a major operation. It was terrifying. But thanks to the love and support of my incredible friends and family, Oliver and I got through it.

Sadly, I met many women along the way who weren’t as fortunate. Women without a strong support system. Women without the finances to prepare and cope with the sudden changes. That’s something that’s stayed with me.

One of the hardest parts for me was losing my hair. It might sound small compared to fighting for your life, but it crushed my confidence. As a ginger, finding a decent wig was nearly impossible — and the ones available were so expensive. I couldn’t justify spending thousands on something temporary when my son needed me to prioritise essentials.

I also struggled with eating well. The exhaustion was overwhelming, and even with help, it was hard to keep up with cooking. Too often I lived off takeaways, not exactly what a cancer patient should be fueling their body with.

This October, I want to give back. I want to raise money for one or two people going through what I went through. Whether that’s helping someone buy a wig so they can feel like themselves again, or supporting someone with healthy food prep so they can save energy, rest, and heal every bit counts.

To anyone currently fighting cancer: you are stronger than you’ll ever realise. Don’t give up there is light at the end of the tunnel. Life after cancer can be even more beautiful. I can honestly say my life now is the best it’s ever been. I cherish the small things, value waking up healthy every day, and I’ve discovered strength I never knew I had.

My inbox will always be open to anyone who needs to talk, rant, cry, or just be heard. You are not alone.

So please share this post. If you know someone who needs support, let me know. And ladies, please remember to always check your boobs. Breast cancer is so common, and diagnoses are happening younger and younger. 1 in 8 women in the UK will face this in their lifetime.

Now let’s make October a fully booked month so we can raise as much money as possible for those who need it most. Together, we can make a difference.

if you are not someone who can afford a facial or don’t feel like a facial is for you then please could you donate even just £1 as every little helps and i want to give this month to change someone’s life who needs the support

for anyone who wants to book a facial my instagram is @letsfaceit.ldn
