Raise money for cancer sufferers.

Donation protected
Hi I’m Harry and I am hoping to raise money for 2 causes close to my heart, being Derriford hospitals oncology ward and Plymouths lymphoedema clinic

Those who know me, know I am not the type of person to share my private life publicly, but I feel in this situation it is necessary to try and do something positive and potentially help people / causes that deserve it.

So here goes, my mum was diagnosed with incurable breast cancer in March 2022 and is still battling this awful disease to this day. Her diagnosis flipped hers, mine and my family’s life on its head and we are all still navigating our way around it day to day. She is the strongest person I know and I am lucky to call her my mum, everything that has been thrown at her so far she still beats and has a smile on her face all the way through it.

The 3 causes mentioned above have been incredible in helping mum along the way and this is me wanting to help them, mum and other people suffering in the same way. You will never know what cancer does to people and their family until you see it happen to yourself or a loved one.

So, in return for your kind donations, I will be participating in an IRONMAN70.3 in Bolton, in June this year. For those who don’t know, this is an endurance triathlon that consists of a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike ride, and a 13.1 mile (half marathon distance) run, consecutively on that day. Over the next 4-5 months I will be training for this, around a full time job, really pushing myself. The only type of race I have completed in my life so far is a half marathon on its own, I’ve never ridden a road bike properly and I can barely doggy paddle at best so this is quite a big jump for me personally.

Some people may think wow that’s hard, why on earth would someone want to do that? which is valid in its own right, but my perspective is that I have a choice to do this, I’m choosing to do this, I’m lucky to be able to challenge myself in this way and try and do something good for other people whilst doing so. People suffering with cancer don’t have a choice, what I’m doing is easy in comparison to what they, and my mum have to deal with on a daily basis and trust me if you’re having a bad day at work? Bad gym session? remind yourself you are lucky to be at work or at the gym or anything good life has to offer, some people don’t get that option.

If you got this far then thanks for reading, any donations are wholeheartedly appreciated and I can promise you they are going to the right places. If you cannot donate, then sharing / sending to a friend or family member is great too and is also appreciated.

Thanks again and tell your loved ones you love them.
