Raise money for people affected by cancer

As many people know I lost my amazing Dad Alan in August last year. He bravely fought and battled cancer just over 4 years ago & we believed he had won his fight. He gained a new lease of life & a career with the WMAS (West Midlands Ambulance Service) a job he was destined to do. But unfortunately it returned aggressively last April. Once again he fought the horrible disease with everything he could, always with a smile, an awful Dad joke and the worry of never wanting to put people out. No matter how much pain he was in he still didn’t complain. He smiled at everyone, said hello & goodbye to other patients he had come to know, always offered his chair even though he was struggling to stand himself. He was nothing short of remarkable. Dad helped me plan my wedding in a few, short weeks, helping me pick songs as we drove to his daily appointments. He walked me down the aisle & danced our father daughter dance together. I asked the DJ to cut the song short but Dad was adamant we danced the length of the track just like we had practised since I was a little girl. Heartbreakingly just 12 days after my wedding he passed away after the most courageous battle. A day I will never forget or heal from. Amongst the endless appointments there was one place we had to visit everyday. The Deansley Centre is based at New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton. It specialises in cancer services including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, nutrition & palliative care. It’s a place difficult to describe. A place filled with such sadness but yet so much hope. A place Dad started as a patient, then a member of staff taking patients to their appointments & finally a patient himself for a second time. A place he always spoke so highly of. A welcoming, friendly, un judgemental environment for patients & their families. The staff know patients by name & face not a hospital number. After Dads first battle we said we would climb Snowdon together to raise money for cancer services. Unfortunately we never got to fulfil that goal. So now with the help of some of my supportive friends we are going to climb Snowdon in May (weather permitting!) to raise as much money as we possibly can to donate to the Deansley centre to help other families that find themselves in similar circumstances in honour of my Dad. If you are still reading thank you so much! Please donate anything you can. It really is appreciated.
