Hi! Thanks for taking the time to read this. I’m taking on a big challenge this spring and wanted to share why.

This April, I’m running two marathons in one week: the Brighton Marathon on Sunday 12th April, and seven days later, the Manchester Marathon on Sunday 19th April—all to raise money for new playground equipment at my children’s school, Stratton Primary in Cirencester.

Schools are hugely underfunded, and playground equipment is expensive — but it’s also vitally important. It gives children space to play, make friends, burn off energy and simply have fun. I really want to give something positive back to the school by helping fund equipment that all children can enjoy. Great playground apparatus gives kids a focus at playtime, and on those tricky days children can have, having somewhere and something to go to can make such a difference — helping them feel a bit less lost or alone. I feel strongly that any opportunity for physical activity, or sport is a great thing and quickly has a positive impact on all of us, especially kids.

A big part of why I’m doing this comes from my mum. Many of you know I lost her ten years ago—she was an amazing PE teacher who cared so much about kids having access to sports and opportunity to be active and have fun. She always went well above and beyond to make it happen, and I guess I want to carry a bit of spirit that forward.

The equipment isn’t cheap—I’m hoping to raise £2,500 (or more!) to add some really great new facilities. Even a small donation would make a huge difference. It's a massive target but I'm not really one for half measures...
