Our 3 year old son Lucas was diagnosed with ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia) in August 2017. He started his chemo treatment immediately, and he has been doing well. He's was in treatment for 2.5 years, and was set to finish treatment in Dec 2020. Unfortunately, in Oct 2019 and Jan 2020 he was battling what they thought was pneumonia. After different antibiotics that never fully took it all away he was admitted to the hospital. On March 12, 2020, he was diagnosed with a second cancer, a form of lymphoma. Most of the details are still unknown, but we know a chemo plan is in the works. At this point we know he will not be returning to school, which means we will be out of work at times, too. We also found out on March 19, 2020 that his Bone Marrow Biopsy came back with 1.2% leukemia cells, which means his leukemia also relapsed. The plan is to continue with this round like planned, they're in touch with MUSC and their bone marrow team, there are 2 possibilities, Car-T cell therapy or bone marrow transplant. ❤
Lucas received his CAR-T treatment in May 2020 and after a tough life threatening battle, he overcame it all and both the Leukemia and Lymphoma went into remission!
Sadly, on Dec.10,2020 we found out his bone marrow had 30% leukemia blasts, so he's now headed for a Bone Marrow Transplant to hopefully reach a life long state of remission!
Everything from this will be put toward his bills, and expenses. With this, hopefully we'll be able to cover whatever costs come up from his treatment over the next few years. The remainder will be put toward his future, and helping offset his future expenses due to the diagnosis.
