Spudman Free day for Kidney Reseach

Hey, I'm Spudman! But I am also known as Ben and I have been a renal dialysis patient since 2010. I have had three transplants but sadly they didn't work due to my aggressive illness therefore, I have a life in dialysis. I initially started this at hospital but now do it at home, dialyising 4 or 5 times a week.

However, this is not a bad thing - whilst on dialysis, I have been lucky to still go on holiday, had 4 children (bringing the overall total to 9) and I am fortunate I am still able to work. Sadly, for most patients, this isn't the case.

My disease has no cure. There are thousands of people like me who have their life planned round dialysis, with fluid and dietary restrictions. They aren't able to work or socialise and it can be a very isolating experience.

I wish to raise some money to help find a cure, to help raise awareness of this silent disease, to help fund better treatment, to help with mental health aspect of this life chnaging illness. Whilst this may not directly happen in my lifetime, it can make it better for future generations who have the same issue.

My free day is the 27th of Jan and any donations made in lieu of this day would be greatly appreciated and will hopefully make a huge difference to renal patients across the countery.
