Raise money for Jennifer’s Journey through Cancer

Hello Family, Friends and Colleagues

My name is Traci, a close friend of Jennifer.

As some of you may already know, our dear Jennifer found a lump almost six weeks ago and subsequently received the heavy news and diagnosis of aggressive Breast Cancer.

After many meetings, tests and consults, the Surgeon felt it best to try to shrink the lump before surgery.

Jennifer has commenced her Chemotherapy as of July 16th out of Foothills Hospital and will do weekly Chemo every Saturday for 12 weeks before her surgery.

Concurrently with her chemo and surgery, Jen’s treatment also includes ImmunoTherapy every three weeks for a 12-month period. This immunotherapy is called Herceptin and was started on July 16th.

As with any life-changing event, there are many expected but also unforeseen costs. Appointment coordination, transportation and parking quickly impact any individual. Time away from work, adaptation to new life circumstances and other unknowns add additional stresses to an already challenging situation.

Further, there is a possibility that Jennifer will require a second immunotherapy Drug called Perjeta which unfortunately is not fully covered by Alberta Health

Hopefully, Blue Cross will cover this therapy; however, at 80%, this leaves $1400 per treatment totalling around $24,000 out of pocket for Jennifer and Dustin to cover beyond their benefits.

It is with all of this in mind we have started this GoFundMe to ask for any support you may be able to provide.

Jen is incredibly grateful for all support, including well wishes, prayers, and sending good energy her way!

This is the beginning of a long Journey for Jennifer, and we will be happy to share updates along the way!
