Specialist literacy lessons for young people with dyslexia

Do you want to join me in making a difference ?

We're walking from Embankment to Guy's Hospital to raise money for the BLOOMFIELD DYSLEXIA CENTRE FOR CHILDREN and every donation will help.....

We believe in the power of education to transform lives for the better.

The Bloomfield Dyslexia Centre teaches children and young people who are struggling to keep up at school. The work we do empowers our students with the literacy skills and confidence to achieve their potential and lead fulfilled lives.

People with dyslexia learn differently. When first assessed our students are between 2 and 6 years behind in reading and spelling. They are lacking in confidence and self-esteem and in some case, their sense of failure has led to more severe mental health issues. We know we can help - our specialist literacy teachers are experts in knowing the best ways of teaching and most efficient routes to success.

'I am so impressed! This shows her huge progress in the area of spelling, and how she has gone from having spelling as an area of difficulty, to now being ahead of her peers'
Matilda Senco Hill Mead School 2023

Cuts in Special Educational Needs funding to schools mean children with dyslexia are missing out on the support they need. Specialist literacy teaching is unavailable in the majority of schools, which means these children fall further and further behind. We know the help we provide enables children to catch up and achieve their potential.

The Bloomfield team believes everyone should have access to the help they need, regardless of their income bracket - for this reason we prioritise children from economically deprived homes whose parents and schools can't afford one to one teaching.
Every child should have the opportunity to learn.

We assess the needs of 180 students every year and there are currently more than 100 pupils receiving one to one and small group lessons every week. There is always a waiting list for bursaries. We could reach more if we had the funds.

Thank you in advance for your contribution to our cause... our belief in literacy and the empowerment it brings.

Walk: Sunday 7th July 11.30 a.m.
Start: Victoria Embankment Gardens
Finish: Guy's Hospital, London Bridge
