I urgently need help raising the money to obtain a Lawyer and get back my son, Austin. I've been dealing with this custody situation since February when his mother (Christina) was arrested for DUI and Child Abuse after driving drunk with our son in the car without a car seat! She was released from jail in the early weeks of March, and at the time, we were still living in the same household. The relationship and living situation between Christina and I was not a suitable environment for our child. So I removed Austin and myself from the situation and brought him from Nevada to Kentucky so that I could figure out a new living situation for myself. Once his mother informed me that she was moving to a new apartment, we returned to Nevada. However, while I was in Kentucky, she filed a custody complaint and claimed that I had kidnapped our child, which was not true in any form. She then was picked up by police again towards the end of March and was in Jail for another 2 months while I cared for our son alone. Paying for child care became a huge struggle because I work from home and on a commission based income. So, Austin and I returned to Kentucky in July to work and get back on our feet with childcare help from Family & Friends. While we were there, I reached out to his mother to see if she planned on helping out with caring for Austin, and she replied with derogatory and hateful racial remarks. She went as far as to say, "keep him, I have my own family now." Basically saying that she is abandoning the care of Austin, who is also of color. So my father then offered to keep Austin for a couple of months while I worked to get caught up on bills and work on obtaining primary custody. The court finally held a hearing on Wednesday, October 12th. However, because I did not have Legal representation, I could not present my evidence, and the judge was forced to sign a pick-up order. Delivering Austin back to Nevada and in the hands of his mother, Christina. On Sunday morning, October 16th, Austin was taken away from my father's care. THIS IS NOT OKAY, AND MY SON COULD BE IN DANGER!!!! I am desperately asking for help, as I do not have the funds to cover the legal fees for representation. The retainer fee for Robison Law Group in Nevada is $4000. I have $1000 to put towards the fees, but I do not have enough to cover the rest quickly enough to change this order, and every minute counts. I must remove my son from the care of the person who has a history of abuse, along with the fact that she hasn't provided any assistance in caring for him. Any support would be greatly appreciated!
