My name is Kathy, I have been battling numerous cancers over the past 14 months, including falopian, ovarian, and now brain. After leaving home at 17, I put myself through school and college and received 2 masters degrees in reading/language and reading specialist, while working 2 jobs and maintaining 3.99 grade average. My first job was setting up a summer school in Marysville. Since there were no teaching jobs at the time, I cleaned houses for a living. Following that I taught self contained special education for grades 2-6. When that ended I moved to Mt Rainier and taught a K8 resource room for children with learning disabilities. From there, I moved to Tacoma to a private Christian school and taught grades 2-4. I loved teaching there but on December 24 of 1988 my mother died of a cerebral hemorrhage. I then worked at Seattle Pacific University as a research assistant. After that I got my dream job teaching 2nd and 3rd grade in Shoreline school district and was there from 1989-2009! 2009 was the worst year of my life! I had to leave my job due to a work injury and lost my home of 15 years. My dad died of cancer and my nephew hung himself. My best friends father committed suicide. While driving back from the funeral in Montana, my car caught fire and burned up on the side of the freeway. I was taken to the hospital with smoke inhalation. After all this, in 2010, I moved to Marysville. I went to counseling for years and they listed me as having PTSD due to all the trauma. I joined the Grove church to meet new people and get connections. In 2020, I got Covid. Then in 2022, I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and the medication they gave me caused foot drop and sever neuropathy in both legs, causing me to become disabled. After a spinal X-ray they discovered a lemon sized tumor on my ovary. After many tests, surgery was required to do a complete hysterectomy as it was discovered it had spread to the falopian tubes. Following that I had 10 months of aggressive chemotherapy. My hair started falling out after the 1st treatment so I had it all shaved off. Currently I am still on a monthly chemo regime. Now that my hair has grown back some, they have discovered my brain tumor.
i have always supported myself and this is beyond difficult to ask you all for help but with the mounting medical bills I am to the point that I have no choice! Pre-insurance bills are over $500,000. Whatever you can give is so greatly appreciated! God bless!
