Hello my name is Jessica and I’m wanting to raise money for the amazing neonatal unit at Bradford royal infirmary. On the 15th of November 2025 I was admitted to hospital at 24 weeks pregnant due to bleeding and server pain spent a few days in hospital so they could monitor me and the baby fast forward to Monday the 17th of November my waters broke they tried keeping the baby in for as long as they could and as safely as they could on Wednesday the 19th of November me and the baby were starting to get poorly so they tried to induce my labour by starting me on the hormone drip hours passed and there was no change I wasn’t progressing at all not even to 1cm. It got to 7.00am Thursday the 20th and I told them something wasn’t right and to turn the drip off they listened instantly and turned it off by 13.48pm Thursday the 20th my little baby boy was born by emergency c-section he weighed 1lbs 4oz and to everyone’s disbelief he let the tiniest little cry out the tears flew down my face when I heard that tiny little cry they put him straight into a little plastic bag because his skin was so fragile and I got to see him a for a split second before the rushed him round to the nicu after been in recovery for what felt like a life time I got took round to meet my darling little boy. He was doing absolutely amazing he didn’t need the ventilator he was on c-pap only recurring a little bit of oxygen he was thriving putting weight on having little feeds we was having skin to skin everything was just going amazing, but then on the 24th of December he started to get a little bit poorly so they stopped his feeds and kept a close eye on him by the 26th of December he went apnic and stopped breathing we knew there was something not quite right with him he was put on the ventilator as he couldn’t cope breathing on his own all his tummy was swollen and very sore to touch he was put on morphine for the pain and they suspected NEC (necrosis of the bowel) I was told to expect the worse as it’s very serious and not a lot of baby’s make it through and I honestly thought I was going to lose him with how poorly he really was, on the 28th of December we got rushed over to Leeds to be met with the surgeons by the 29th my tiny little boy went down for his first surgery they’ve had to remove a 3rd of his bowel due to it dying he has a little stoma bag now on the 2nd of January we got moved back over to Bradford and he was thriving after his surgery back on his feeds and doing better than ever it was amazing to be back felt like we were home again and then on the 18th of January he took a turn for the worse again he ended up back on the ventilator after a really bad apnic episode that he wouldn’t come back round from they suspected NEC again but this time they were able to medically treat it fast forward to today my boy is absolutely thriving breathing on his own with me help back on 10ml of milk and growing like never before we go back over to Leeds for his corrective surgery at the end of this month and hopefully his surgery will be early march he’s shown everyone just how strong he is he’s an absolute fighter and doing amazing. I want to raise money for Bradford neonatal unit because they’ve all gone above and beyond for my baby just like they do all the other baby’s that are on there my boy has been given the best care ever and if it wasn’t for them been as brilliant as they are I don’t know how things would of gone they treat the baby’s as if they were their own and I can’t thank them enough for everything they’ve done and continue to do. I’m hoping to raise money so they can get more supply’s for the unit and for the baby’s on there I’ve bought stuff for them myself but as you can imagine traveling to and from the hospital every day and having another 6 children at home I need to provide for and take care of it’s not cheap but I want to thank them in anyway I can and hopefully by raising money for them it will help them a lot. Thank you for taking time to read our story we still have a long way to go but hopefully we’ll be home before we know it any donations made will be greatly appreciated anything big or small even just a share. Thank you in advance and thank you again for reading our story
