As the owner of a women’s-only small group personal training studio, the safety and wellbeing of every woman who walks through our doors is my number one priority.

That’s why I’m asking for your support to help us purchase an on-site defibrillator (AED) for the gym, something that could quite literally save a life. Although we would all want to just presume we would never need one.

While working in previous gyms, I’ve personally had to use a defibrillator twice. I’ve witnessed first-hand how vital they are in a medical emergency and just how quickly every second counts. The heartbreak, the fear and the helplessness that comes with those moments is something I’ll never forget.

Gyms are environments where people are pushing themselves physically. That’s part of the beauty of it but it also means they’re higher-risk spaces for sudden cardiac events. In those moments, having a defib on-site can be the difference between life and death.

Currently, our closest AED is at Ice Sheffield. With the best will in the world, running there and back wouldn’t give us the time we’d need to help someone in crisis.

This isn’t about ticking a box. It’s about knowing that in the (god forbid) event of an emergency, we’ve done everything we possibly can to protect our members, our staff and our community.

We’re aiming to raise £1000 to cover the cost of a high-quality defibrillator, storage cabinet and basic training materials for our team.
