raise money for an assistance dog

Hi, my name is Nigel, and I am fundraising to assist with the cost of purchasing and training an assistance dog for my autistic daughter.

My daughter is a 12-year-old Autistic girl prone to violent outbursts due to anxiety. At one point, my wife, me, assistants and staff at school used to get daily beatings, sometimes resulting in blood being drawn (usually Mine). We managed to get her onto medication which reduced the anxiety to a lower level reducing the outbursts. However, she was still prone to them 2-3 times a week. I then started looking into getting an assistance dog; these dogs are trained to an exceptionally high standard, recognise mood changes before they happen, and assist by either distracting or comforting. So I managed to source a trainer who found a 9-month-old dog who is currently undergoing training. The trainer has the dog for 4 days a week the rest of the time, he is at home with us to get him, and my daughter used to each other. The introduction of the dog has now reduced my daughter's outburst down to maybe 1 a month, which has improved not only our daughter's life but also ours and everybody who deals with her. the change is nothing short of a miracle. The plus side is that as an assistance dog, he will be allowed to go everywhere with her, into shops, restaurants, etc., making outings easier. Unfortunately, the dog's purchase price and training add up to a whopping £10k, for which there is no funding, and we have to find all the money with additional vet fees on top of this.
