Hi,
My name's Joe but you might know me better as Dystrophy Dad.
I have Becker Muscular Dystrophy, a degenerative muscle wasting disease. As I age my mobility worsens, and as my mobility declines my mental health worsens.
I find being outdoors to be a great help when things feel dark and I love going on new adventures with my wife and my daughter in our beautiful Scottish countryside.
Unfortunately, many of the adventures we'd like to share will take us over trails that just aren't possible in a manual chair.
For this reason, I feel a motorised wheelchair attachment would be an immense help. It would go a great way to to supporting me mentally, and allow me to share many wonderful adventures with the two people I love most in the world.
As with most disability aids, they don't come cheap. With the model I'm looking at coming in at close to £5000.
And honestly, we don't have that type of money. I of course want to put as much as I can to this, so rather than raising the full sum, I'm looking to raise £3000 with your support, and hopefully figure out the other £2000 myself.
I always tell others to ask for help when they need it, I figure it's time I took my own advice.
If you can't help, I appreciate you taking the time to read this. If you could kindly share this GoFundMe I'd be grateful.
