RAISE MONEY FOR A RAMP SO RACHEL CAN GO HOME
Donation protected
Hello my name is Renee and Rachel is a very special friend of mine. It is with mixed emotions that I am having to set up this GO FUND ME page. Like I said she is a very special friend and person to myself and many others that know her. Her personality is big and she can make anyone laugh with her wacky sense of humor. Let me tell you a little bit about Rachel Davies. Rachel is a 45 year old wife to Ron Shantz and sister to Dan Davies. She is a nurse and has nursed with Grandriver Hospital over 11 years. She however has not been able to work for the last 4 years due to a decline in her overall health. This illness is something she inherited from her mother, who has also lost her life to the disease, when Rachel was only 12 years old. Rachel then lost her father to a motor vehicle accident when she was only 18. Now without any parents at the young age of 18 Rachel was left to care for her younger brother Dan Davies (who also inherited this disease and has since recovered from a heart transplant). She has been battling with this disease ( Cardiomyopathy) her whole life but it has really taken its toll on her general health this past year and a half. Rachel has been hospitalized since August of this year with no idea when she will be able to be discharged.
It has been a rough road for Rachel and her family both physically, emotionally and financially since being diagnosed with the life altering diagnosis of Severe Heart Failure. She has undergone numerous medical procedures including 4 heart ablations and 4 cardio conversions (where they shock your heart back into rhythm) as well as a pacemaker implantation, just to name a few. Despite all their efforts the disease has now damaged her kidneys to the extent that they are no longer working. She is now also in Acute Kidney Failure. Rachel is now undergoing hemodialysis and hopes to convert that to peritoneal dialysis in the near future. Rachel has been told by her heart specialist that there is nothing further they can do to help her heart condition.
Rachel's future is very uncertain as to how much time she will have left with us on this earth. It is her hope however to spend any remaining time she does have left in her own home with the people and dogs she loves. To be able to do that Rachel needs a ramp put on the front of her house. She now has limited mobility issues and requires lots of assistance to get around. The ramp will cost in excess of $2000. All proceeds from this GO FUND ME will go towards the ramp expense, any home care, a walker, a wheelchair and loss of income.
I pray that you find it in your heart to donate, even a little, as it all adds up. If you are unable to donate then I just ask that you keep Rachel and her family in your prayers. As a nurse Rachel has looked after and cared for many people over the 11 years she worked for GRH. It is our turn to look after you! Thank you for your time in reading this. God Bless:)
