Help Lewie on his road to recovery
Donation protected
Hello Everyone, We are the parents of an incredible little superhero, who is now 7 years old. unfortunately in the summer last year 2022, Lewie had an out of hospital cardiac arrest which resulted in him being in intensive care and on a ventilator, we got results from an MRI scan, he was diagnosed with an Hypoxic brain injury. This was devastating news for us, as Lewie was such a healthy, energetic, and enthusiastic child who loved playing football and fishing.
Lewie's journey hasn't been the easiest on him and us as parents but he has shown massive improvements and determination.
Lewie came off the ventilator but because of his brain injury could no longer talk, walk, eat or do anything for himself.
Lewie was in hospital for 12 weeks and then moved to The Children's trust rehabilitation centre for another 12 weeks, where he received Physio and other therapies to help on his way to recovery. Since being home, Lewie has shown impressive signs of improvement, he is eating soft foods, being vocal with sounds and learning to walk again. To continue his development we would like to have a Hyperbaric Oxygen chamber at home which is a bed that is pressurised to give more oxygen to his brain and body to speed up recovery. For this to be beneficial he needs to use it on a regular basis. The option we have is to buy one so we can have it at home and to be used everyday.
Unfortunately we can't fund this ourselves as its rather costly. Lewie's Dad is working to try and save money but I am no longer working to be Lewie's full time carer.
We just want to give Lewie the best possible chance to reach his full potential on his road to recovery.
Any help would be amazing, Thank You, Katy Gary and Lewie xx
