Hi, my name is Patricia, and I’m raising funds to support my cousin Ciara Barber and her small business, WeeCarePackages.ie. Ciara is an inspiration who launched Wee Care Packages with her sister, Siobhan, after going through her own cancer journey — an experience that shaped not just her life, but her mission to bring comfort to others.

In 2018, at just 28 years old, Ciara was diagnosed with a brain tumour — an oligodendroglioma — after noticing a sudden stutter in her speech. She underwent surgery at Beaumont Hospital and, although her initial recovery was hopeful, a follow-up scan revealed that the tumour had started to grow again. Ciara went through both chemotherapy and radiotherapy — right as the world was entering the uncertainty of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Despite everything, Ciara remained positive and resilient. She moved back to Donegal to continue her treatment, surrounded by the love and support of family, friends, and her local community. It was during this time that she came up with the idea for Wee Care Packages.

As Ciara says, “No one really knew what to get me. My friend gave me lots of wee things, and I loved them. It made me realise how much comfort those small things can bring during a really stressful time.” That seed of an idea turned into something truly special.

Wee Care Packages now offers a range of beautifully curated boxes — including The Chemo Box, The Radiation Box, The Sleep and Relax Box, and The Deluxe Box. Each one is filled with thoughtful, comforting items like hats, fluffy socks, skincare, anti-sickness sweets, and more. Everything is based on what Ciara found most helpful during her own treatment.

Now, we’d love your support to help Wee Care Packages grow — and most importantly, to get more of these boxes into the hands of people who need them.

All funds raised will go directly towards Ciaras business delivering care packages to people in hospital, those undergoing cancer treatment, or in hospice care — and beyond, in so far as the fundraiser allows us to reach.

This isn’t just about supporting a small business — it’s about showing people that they’re not alone. That someone sees them and cares. Ciara has poured her heart into every part of this, and I truly believe in what she’s doing. I’ve never asked friends or family to support a fundraiser before, but this one means a lot to me — and to so many others.
