Help Athletico Romsey’s Young Players Keep Playing ⚽
Dear Friends, Family, and Supporters,
It’s with a heavy heart that we share the news that Athletico Romsey is being wound up.
Over the past week, our club has faced a series of sudden and difficult challenges. Our secretary was taken ill, and shortly after, our treasurer resigned. Despite repeated efforts, we have been unable to gain access to the club’s bank account or get a clear understanding of our financial position.
With no access to funds and no way to continue running the club properly, we’ve had no choice but to close things down.
However, we’re doing everything we can to make sure the 70+ children who played for Athletico Romsey can continue doing what they love. Thanks to the generosity of two local clubs, the teams will be taken in and supported under their structures going forward.
That said, we are still facing a serious and urgent need:
There are outstanding debts that need to be covered.
The children will need new kit and equipment as they transition to the new clubs.
We want to ensure this handover causes as little disruption as possible for the players and their families.
If you’re able to contribute anything at all, no matter how small, your generosity will help us wrap things up responsibly and make sure the children continue to play without interruption or extra burden on their families.
Athletico Romsey has always been about more than football. It’s been a safe, supportive space for children to grow, make friends, and build confidence. Though the club itself is coming to an end, we want to make sure that spirit carries on through the players.
Thank you for taking the time to read this — and thank you so much for any support you can offer.
With sincere gratitude,
The Athletico Romsey Team!
