Hello everyone,

Thank you sincerely for taking the time to read my message. My name is Saira Batool, I am a 46-year-old mother of three living in Mississauga. Three years ago, I went through a painful divorce and since then, I’ve been raising my children entirely on my own. These past few years have been the hardest of my life—emotionally, physically, and financially.

Much of my struggle has been due to serious medical issues. I’ve spent a significant portion of the last three years in and out of hospitals. A few months ago, I received the most heartbreaking news of my life: I was diagnosed with Gastric Cancer. This devastating diagnosis requires me to undergo several major surgeries with long recovery periods. I am unable to work because of my condition and the treatment process.

In addition to my inability to work, I am overwhelmed with mounting medical bills and treatment-related expenses, which have added to my financial burden.

I currently live with my children in a small basement apartment with just two rooms. The monthly rent is $2,000, and I have no stable source of income. Every day is a battle to keep a roof over our heads, food on the table, and access the care I need to survive.
