Dr. Mirza Ijaz Rahman is participating in the D&L Heritage Half Marathon Run in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania to raise funds in support of the work of the Guyanese Diaspora Charity (GDC). Since 2022, the GDC’s purposes have included the provision of financial, medical, research, and educational support to Guyanese communities in the United States and in Guyana.

Specifically, the GDC has been engaged in providing:

· Scholarships to graduating high school students of Guyanese origin in the US

· Technology - computers and tablets to students, physicians, primary and secondary schools, and the University of Guyana

· Technical and financial support to the:

o Guyana Family Medicine Residency program

o HolliCare Medical Services

o College of Medical Sciences at the University of Guyana

o Montrose and St. Stephen’s Primary schools, to create libraries there

All monies collected through the GDC’s fundraising efforts go towards its programs, given that its administrative costs are covered by a grant to the foundation from the Rahman family.
