UK-based charity Diagrama Foundation is committed to supporting vulnerable children — not just here at home, but where the need is greatest. That’s why we’re stepping up to help the Rusinga Friends Spotlight School in Homa Bay, Kenya — and we need your support.
Why This School?
Rusinga Friends Spotlight School is a lifeline for over 300 children, many of whom are orphans, from extremely vulnerable families, or living with disabilities, sickle cell disease, or HIV. The school offers not just education, but hope, dignity, and a place to belong.
But right now, the children are learning in dangerously outdated metal classrooms. Recent devastating floods destroyed parts of the school’s grounds — washing away fencing and leaving the school unable to grow food or raise animals to support the children’s nutrition.
Our Visit to See the Reality First-Hand
In August 2024, Diagrama Foundation’s Chief Executive, David McGuire, and Head of Professional Standards, Marina Rubio, travelled thousands of miles to visit the school in person — flying for 16 hours and driving another 8 to reach Homa Bay.
“It was crucial to see the situation for ourselves. No report could have prepared us for the reality: children doing their best to learn in broken, hot, unsafe metal structures; a once-thriving vegetable plot now unusable due to flood damage. We couldn’t walk away without doing something.” – David McGuire, CEO, Diagrama Foundation
What Will £5,000 Achieve?
With just £5,000, we can make a transformational difference:
- Build safe, brick classrooms to replace unsafe metal structures
- Rebuild the school’s boundary fencing to protect the grounds
- Restore the school farm, allowing the children to grow vegetables and keep animals again — improving nutrition and generating income
This isn’t just about buildings. It’s about giving these children a safe place to learn, grow, and thrive.
Why Diagrama?
The Diagrama Foundation exists to support vulnerable children and adults to live their best possible lives. While our work is UK-based, our values know no borders — when we see children suffering, we take action.
