Hello, my name is Eluña and I am calling out to all who are able to support this precious gem of a human being named Ameera Mayy.
She and her 5 year old daughter lost their home and most of their belongings after a storm came through South Africa last weekend.
They are currently residing in her sister's studio apartment with nowhere else to stay. Her daughter has not been able to attend school because they are more than an hour's drive from the school.
If you have any capacity to give, please consider donating to support this mother and daughter get back on their feet. They have lost almost everything from the flooding damage and do not have funds saved for a rent deposit.
Any and all donations are graciously and gratefully accepted.
I am offering to raise funds on their behalf and will wire them the money after we have reached our goal.
Thank you all so much for your time and consideration of this plea.

During the weekend of April 6th 2024 we experienced level 9 storm warnings.
We experienced 90 mile per hour winds and rain.
On Saturday night, the roof of my apartment building flew off. With my apartment being on the top floor, rain water started filling up in my ceiling and at 3am on Sunday morning it starting pouring in through my light fittings and through cracks that formed in the ceiling.
Within a couple hours there was a hole in the ceiling and rain water poured in, flooding my bedroom and other areas in the apartment. I got my daughter to a safe area and saved what I could, but most of my furniture and belongings were damaged, including my bed, electronics, clothes, and appliances.
My landlord and rental agent have not made arrangements to fix the damage or provide alternate accommodation. In fact, I have not heard from them directly and they avoid my calls.
A friend kindly took my daughter and I in for the night on Monday April 8th until my sister could pick my daughter and I up.
We have since been staying with my sister in her studio apartment, 1.5 hours away from our home.
At the moment, we have nowhere else to go. And I do not have the money for a deposit on a new apartment.
It has been 4 days and there has been no contact from my rental agent, no contractors hired to repair the hole in my ceiling, or repair the flood damage.
I am currently looking at renting an airbnb but I can't do that indefinitely as I am already out of money.
My daughter (5) has been feeling the effects of the displacement. She hasn't been to school in a week and asks when we will be going home. It's hard to tell her, "I don't know." And the uncertainty is hard on both of us.
