Hey! I'm Matt, aged 16, and I'm an Explorer Scout from Dragons ESU, Maidenhead. Next summer, I am looking to travel to Malawi to help support the local communities by building schools and shelters, fixing and making waterholes and various community projects. I have been passionate about partaking in this trip ever since I was given a talk about it in Scouts when one of our Young leaders returned from his trip to Uganda, raving about all the experiences they had and the skills they learnt.
I'm looking forward to gaining a new perspective on life, making new friends and visiting a new country. I'll be undertaking a series of fundraising activities such as running stalls with my Explorer group, marshalling at events, and making and selling items such as cookies.
The projects I'll be working on in Malawi will take place in villages approximately 30–40 minutes from the second city of Blantyre. We will be working alongside Joshua, a British charity. Established in 1998, the charity believes ‘in giving children the best possible start in life through Early Child "Development work’.

More information about the trip can be found here: https://www.berkshirescouts.org.uk/project-africa-2024/
I appreciate any support you're able to provide and I'll be regularly updating this page with new information regarding the trip as it draws nearer.
Many thanks,
Matt
