Raise money for baby Zoey's long hospital stay

Donation protected

Hi, my name is Jeff, and our family and friends would like to help raise funds for the ongoing long hospital stay that my newborn granddaughter Zoey is enduring due to a rare condition she was born with called Vein of Galen Malformation (VOGM). This is a type of rare blood vessel abnormality inside the brain. In VOGM, misshapen arteries in the brain connect directly with veins, instead of connecting with capillaries, which help slow blood flow. This causes a rush of high-pressure blood into the veins. The rush of blood toward the heart and lungs forces the heart to work overtime to get blood to the rest of the body. She has basically been in heart failure since birth on 9/28, and multiple surgeries are required to correct the problem. She has already had the first surgery at 10 days old, and will undergo more as needed, soon. None of us had ever heard of this condition before! Less than 200 cases are seen each year, and not too long ago it was fatal. It is still a very high-risk surgery. But, we all have faith that God has this in His plan and we are trusting Him in all things.

Kaitlin and Matt, my daughter and son-in-law, are doing the best they can to juggle staying with Zoey in Children's Hospital, taking care of their two-year-old daughter, traveling back and forth to home 45 minutes away, coordinating jobs when possible, with lots of friends and family helping. It is still a drain on them emotionally, physically, and financially. They do have insurance, but we aren't sure how much that will cover over time. And it certainly won't cover the expenses of travel back and forth, parking, meals, unexpected extra help and services needed, etc. These extra funds will take some of the weight of worry off them as their main concern is Zoey's care and taking care of their family. We love them and are praying constantly for a miracle of healing and recovery for baby Zoey. During her first surgery, the waiting room was at capacity with family and friends praying for her, and with thousands more all over the country in churches and prayer chains who know about her condition. A second surgery is scheduled for 10/16. Thank you all.
