Midwifery Placement in Sri Lanka
My name is Clair, I am 30 years old and a mum of three.
I am studying a midwifery degree and I have been given the opportunity to participate in a once in a life time midwifery and travelling placement in Sri Lanka in August 2025, which I am really excited to share!
I am doing a Tough Mudder on the 26th July 2025 to raise the funds needed to allow me to experience midwifery from a whole new perspective and gain valuable experiences, whilst contributing to midwifery care within a resource-limited setting. If you would like to sponsor me, you can do this on here.
Maternity is becoming more and more medicalised, with increasing interventions. Experiencing midwifery in a country within limited resources and education will allow me to view midwifery from alternative perspectives, which can adapt and benefit my practice.
This Sri Lanka midwifery placement offers the chance of travelling opportunities to become immersed into the diverse cultures, both rurally and within urban settings, and directly contributing to improve the quality of maternal and newborn care.
I am sharing my journey with anyone who would like to follow on Instagram @ Student Midwife Clair. Updates of the Tough Mudder with also be posted on here!
I am aware this is an extremely large amount of money to raise, so i just want to take this opportunity to say thank you to each and everyone of you who have been kind enough to help make this experience happen!!! :)
*Any money raised and not needed to pay for my elective i will be donating to the charity 4Louis, who provide care and support for stillbirth, miscarrage and baby loss awareness! *
