Raise Funds For My Brother-in-law Who Does It All

Last week, a most of our extended family from the west and east coast (18 of us!) took a long awaited trip to Hawaii. We've been talking about it for years and we were so excited to finally be all together again--- in paradise, no less. Towards the end of the trip, three of us decided to take a surfing lesson. At some point during the lesson, my bro-in-law felt a pain in his lower back but didn't think too much of it. However, once reaching shore, the pain started to escalate. By the time they arrived at the hotel, he had to basically crawl to his room. The back pain worsened and he slowly started to lose feeling in his feet, then legs, rendering him unable to walk. After taking him into the emergency room he was immediately admitted into the hospital.
An MRI revealed a herniated disc, causing damage to his sacral nerves (S1) . He currently has no feeling or movement in his lower extremities. The prognosis is that with extensive PT he should be able to walk again, but it sounds like I could be a long road to recovery. Once back in Jersey, John will be placed in an in-patient facilty for PT and rehabilitation.
As anyone who knows him can attest to, TO KNOW JOHN IS TO LOVE JOHN. He always shows up for our family and goes above and beyond to make sure everyone is taken care of. The same goes for what he would do for any of his friends. He is possibly one of the most selfless people I know. Now the tables are turned, and he's the one that needs to be taken care of.
He will not able to work again until he regains full use of his legs. Prior to the trip, my sister had also resigned from her job and wasn't planning on returning to work for a while after the baby was born, so they will be under some financial strain. SO, yes, they are also expecting their first child in November.
It will be a big emotional and monetary strain for them in the coming months, so I urge you to help them in any way you can. Every little bit counts, so every donation is greatly appreciated. Please pray for John and send him some love. THANK YOU...
