My fabulous friend Lea Van Praag (née Miller) passed away on February 7th, 2026, at 43 years young, after a brave battle with cancer. Lea was one of the most caring and selfless people I’ve ever known, and I’ll forever be grateful to Google and SRE for bringing her into my life.

Lea dedicated her life to animals. In San Jose, California, she was a lifeline for abandoned pets and provided emergency medical care to those in need. She even nicknamed herself "Ms. Dolittle." Walking into her home was like walking into heaven; you’d be greeted by her four gorgeous dogs and, if you were lucky, her three curious cats.

On March 17th, I will be running the Mullingar Half Marathon to raise funds for My Lovely Horse Rescue (MLHR). Like Lea, MLHR believes that every animal—whether a horse, pig, goat, dog, or cat—deserves kindness and deep respect. They provide a second chance to the neglected and abused, turning lives around through tireless rehabilitation and rehoming efforts.

I would be so grateful for any donation you can give. Lea always dreamt of traveling to Ireland. While she didn't get to make the trip, I know she would be so moved to know that her legacy is providing vet care, food, and shelter to animals across Ireland.
