Hi, we’re Matt and Grace, and we’re fundraising for our boy Leo, our much loved 8 year old Cocker Spaniel who has recently been diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer.
Leo is a major part of our family and has always been gentle, affectionate, and full of character. Over the past few months, we started noticing changes. He became quieter and less like himself, and began having difficulty with urination and signs of discomfort. After multiple veterinary visits, scans, and tests, Leo has been found to have a large internal mass with deposits suggesting that the cancer has spread to the lymph nodes.
We are currently in the middle of a complex diagnostic and treatment process. Leo has already required
• Ultrasound and X ray imaging
• Blood tests and biopsies
• Ongoing pain and anti inflammatory medication
• Referral to a specialist oncology team plus CT imaging
• He has started treatment with chemotherapy this week.
The costs have mounted very quickly. While we do have pet insurance and are working extra hours to raise as much cash as possible, it does not fully cover specialist referrals, advanced imaging, or longer term treatment and supportive care. We are doing everything we can to give Leo comfort, dignity, and the best possible quality of life, but the financial pressure has become significant.
This fundraiser is to help cover
• Specialist oncology consultations
• Chemotherapy
• A novel procedure performed mainly in the USA called prostatic artery embolisation - this procedure is very expensive and may give Leo extra symptom free quality time.
Our focus is on keeping Leo pain free, happy, and surrounded by love for whatever time we have left together.
If you are able to donate, we are incredibly grateful. If not, sharing Leo’s story also helps more than you know. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for supporting us and our boy during such a difficult time. ❤️
