#TeamKylie Fundraising Page

Hi,
I’m Bekki, Kylie’s sister-in-law. I have set up this page on behalf of all those who are so keen to show their love and support to Kylie, Dan and their family.
On the 12th July 2019, Kylie was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer. Over the last 5 and a half years, she has shown unbelievable strength and resilience; dealing with the spread of the cancer,
major brain surgery, hair loss and several different forms of treatment while fighting this ruthless and incurable disease.
Earlier this week, Kylie received the devastating news that the cancer has progressed within her lungs and therefore she will need to change treatment once again. In two weeks time, she will commence her ‘last line’ of treatment available on the NHS.
However, there is test available to Kylie. The test would involve testing biomarkers (which include the DNA, RNA and protein) from Kylie’s blood and a sample of one of Kylie’s tumours - if the team feels it’s safe to do so, a sample from the tumour in her lung will be removed, if this is not possible, they will use a sample of the tumour from her brain previously removed. These biomarkers can then be used to make a diagnosis, to predict cancer aggressiveness and/ or to predict which course of medication would be most effective. Tragically, this test is not funded by the NHS. Therefore, Kylie and Dan will need to fund this out of their own pockets. The initial test will cost £4,000.
Since Kylie’s diagnosis, she has devoted lots of her love, support and precious time to raise awareness and funds for charities and organisations close to her heart. Impressively, she has raised in the region of £30,000 for Overgate Hospice (Kylie’s chosen hospice for support and alternative therapies); competing in their annual Colour Run (even when she was in the middle of aggressive treatment), organising a ‘Big Brew’ and completing the Reindeer Run with her daughter Elsie. She has also raised funds for Highbury Special School in order for them to buy a new school bus.
Kylie has a heart of gold and brings an abundance of joy and sparkle to everyone she comes into contact with. Not only does she continue to shine while living with cancer and all it throws at her day
in, day out, but she continues to be an incredible mummy to Elsie, step mum to Irwin and wife to Dan.
This treatment could be the only way that Kylie can continue to enjoy the milestones; Elsie’s birthday, her birthday, family holidays, days out and Christmas. All of which many of us take for
granted.
We know that many of Kylie’s family and friends are keen to help by donating or organising fundraising events. There are already plans in motion to organise the 3 Peaks Challenge, Highbury School (Elsie’s school) are holding a ‘Kylie Day’ and even the youngest of Kylie’s supporters are planning their very own fundraising events.
Please can we ask that all fundraising efforts be directed to this page. If anyone would like to take part in the 3 Peaks, please let Dan or Kylie know so we can keep you posted with details.
If you are able to, please donate whatever you can, as every penny will help Kylie and her family.
Thank you x
