Hi,
My name is Chantelle and I battle with a condition called endometriosis. This disease is incurable and causes extreme pain, inflamation and a range of really horrible impacts on my body that have progressively lead me down a hard path of increasing disability. There are very few effective treatments options for this condition as studies and research into this condition that effects up to 1 in 9 females (*assigned female atbirth) is very much in its infancy.
The vast majority of medications, surgeries and therapies to help elleviate symptoms (even if only temporarily), are not adequately funded by medicare or PBS, if at all. Private health cover is also limited in this area.
I have been self-funding treatments, surgeries and expensive medications on a part-time community service wage and managing to get by....up until now.
I am embarrassed to ask for help in this way, yet deeply humbled by the existence of a platform such as this.
My medical expenses for this 2 month period are going to tally at $10 000 AUD due to needing one essential surgical procedure (not covered by Medicare) and another type of therapy which profoundly assists me to remain mobile and continue to stay in the workforce due to its effective pain relief.
Any help is greatly appreciated and will be humbly put to very good use.
