Raise funds for an iPad for ICU help the angels

I am trying to raise money for the Cardiothoracic Critical care unit at Wythenshaw, Manchester.  

My daughter Megan is 22 years old, currently a inpatient on the 31 bedded specialist ward.  

Meg had been poorly for a few weeks with pneumonia, but as she got worse so so did the infection.  On Thursday 19th Nov 2020 Megan was admitted to Royal Bolton to receive iv antibiotics or so we thought.  I got the call any mother dreads Megan has took a turn for the worse and was struggling to breathe, they said that she needed to go onto a ventilator to help her sick lungs.
They vented her but within a minutes Megan has suffered an episode in her good lung called “tension pneumothorax”.  Her lungs had collapsed and caused open space between her lungs and chest wall and caused her to a cardiac arrest.  

Meg was very very sick and it was touch and go if she would survive.  Bolton icu could not offer Megan anymore support they had not dealt with this before.  They contacted the Ecmo team at Wythenshaw, the ecmo machine is a machine that acts as your lungs to remove the Carbon dioxide from your blood.  Megan had to much carbon dioxide in her and was dangerous. 

The surgeon at Wythenshaw came along with a full team of specialist nurses to assess Megan and to see if she her heart could mange the ecmo machine after her arrest. 

luckly her heart was strong !! They agreed to put her on the ecmo machine but that has a lot of risks but it was my only option for her. 

Megan was contacted to the ecmo and started helping her straight away ! 

Everyday she is showing small improvements and they are slowly reducing her support. 

BUt due to covid I can not see or be with Megan, all my trust is in the nurses who care for her 24/7.  They do offer zoom likeFaceTime but they have one iPad for the 31 patients in the unit.  Your limited to half an hour time slot if there is space for your called time. 

I can not thank the nurses, doctors, hca’s, cleaners everyone at wythenshaw for the care and kindness they have shown me and my family and Megan.  

Without this technology families can not see there loved ones, it’s our only communication between each other. 

I would like to raise money to buy an iPador maybe two for the unit as a thank you from everyone for looking after our grumpy moaning meg xxx
