My name is Dean, and I’m proud to be part of the team behind Tattenhoe Youth FC — a club that means a huge amount to me and to the young people who wear our badge every week. As a committee member and someone who works closely on the club’s identity, growth, and future, I’ve seen first-hand how powerful grassroots football can be.
For our players, football isn’t just a sport. It’s confidence. It’s belonging. It’s friendships that last. It’s a safe place to grow, to learn, and to feel part of something bigger. Watching that happen week after week is exactly why this club matters so much to me.
This year, I wanted to do something that genuinely pushed me — something that showed the same commitment our young players show every time they step onto the pitch. So I signed up for the Milton Keynes Marathon.
There’s just one small detail:
I signed up 4 weeks before the event takes place so……………
I’ve had absolutely no time to train.
So yes, this is going to hurt. A lot. But that’s exactly why I’m doing it. If our players can give everything for the club, then I can drag myself 26.2 miles around Milton Keynes for them.
Every donation — big or small — goes directly into improving the experience we offer our young people. Better equipment, better facilities, better opportunities, and a stronger pathway from youth football into the adult game. Grassroots clubs survive on passion, volunteers, and community support, and your contribution genuinely makes a difference.
By supporting my marathon effort, you’re not just backing me as I hobble, shuffle, and possibly crawl across the finish line. You’re investing in the future of Tattenhoe Youth FC and the young people who make this club what it is.
Thank you for reading my story — and for supporting a club that means so much to so many.
