We have decided to walk the Jurassic Coast Ultra Challenge 1st Quarter 25KM to help Matthew Revill Fight and Raise Awareness of the Terminal Rare Genetic Disease Adrenoleukodystrophy

As you are aware Matthew was recently diagnosed with Cerebral Adrenoleukodystrophy (CALD)—a rare, progressive, and devastating condition that affects the brain’s neural pathways. CALD can progress rapidly, typically leading to a vegetative state or death within a few years. Alongside this, Matthew also suffers from Adrenomyeloneuropathy (AMN), which causes stiffness, weakness in the legs and Matthew now is no longer able to walk!

There is currently no cure / treatment for CALD or AMN. This is why we need to raise awareness of this life-limiting condition in males.

Only a few weeks ago Fi could not even walk up the stairs and in July 2018, Matthew actually did this walk and achieved 48 miles on a fractured ankle, so it means so much to us to do this walk to raise funds for Matthew.

Any funds we raise will be used to help Matthew as he now needs a specialist car for his wheelchair, a wet room and one of his final wishes to have a final family holiday with his niece and nephews - to make lasting memories.

We also will be making a contribution to AlexTLC, the charity which has helped our family considerably since the diagnosis.

These costs are significant—and every donation, big or small, will go directly toward improving Matthew’s quality of life and giving him the best last memories possible.
