Hello everyone,
My beautiful girlfriend Sophie Smart and treasured daughter, sister, granddaughter and friend passed away suddenly on 26 May 2024.
We have now received the results that Sophie passed away due to Deep Vein Thrombosis in her right leg (a blood clot) which travelled to her lungs and was fatal. This is called a pulmonary embolism.
Sophie’s had little to no symptoms and it was described as ‘undetectable’.
Sophie was young, fit and healthy and no risk factors applied to Sophie other than she was on the combined contraceptive pill.
Sophie was the most caring, funny, kind and considerate person and truly was the light of our lives.
I am planning to raise as much money as possible with the support of both Sophies and my family in Sophie’s name for Thrombosis UK to raise awareness of blood clots, the symptoms and the dangers.
The first event being the Yorkshire three peaks which I will complete in September, along with some friends and family members. This is just the first event I plan to do, I want to do 1 or 2 events every year in her name to raise as much awareness as possible for the cause.
