Raise a Roof for Harry

Nov 7th

Who is Harry Grant: Wind Gap Bluegrass Festival promoter, sound reinforcement for numerous bluegrass, folk, and community events throughout the Northeast region, founding member of the IBMA and Vietnam Veteran.

On behalf of Harry Grant, we thank everyone who has donated to date to GoFundMe to help Harry rebuild his life after his house and its contents were lost to a fire October 22. Your generosity and outpouring of support is a demonstration of how much you care about him.

As Harry’s housing plans and bills/fees become known we need to “supercharge” this effort.  The fees and expenses that he needs to address include furnishings, clothing, town fees and taxes relating to the house and the fire, legal fees, debris cleanup, etc.

Harry’s 80th birthday is later this month on November 28th.   We’re hoping you will join us in making Harry’s upcoming birthday, memorable, not for the fire, but for the outpouring of love and respect for him shown by your generosity and support. No one at any age should face what Harry is going through. Keep in mind he faced down heart problems with bypass surgery ten years ago and is going strong, as positive an attitude as ever.

The new goal is $50,000. Please give as generously as you can. Every donation, small or large, goes a long way to helping Harry not only obtain a new home, but to carry on the Wind Gap Bluegrass Festival for 2021.

Thank you!!

Thank you to everyone who helped us reach our initial fundraising goal.  This reminds me of the ending in "It's a Wonderful Life" when the whole community comes out to support George Bailey in his time of need.  Just like George we are able to show Harry how much of a positive impact he has had on all of us and how much we all care about him!  Let's keep this going.  One of Harry's friends will be talking with him about his plans for what's next and prioritize what he needs to find a new place and get settled.

Oct 28th

On the evening of Oct 22nd, the home of our friend and long time promoter of the Wind Gap Bluegrass Festival, Harry Grant, burned to the ground.

Fortunately, Harry was not home at the time and arrived to find the active fire.  Unfortunately, it was too late and the whole house was ablaze.  After a valiant effort by several local fire departments to get the fire under control and save the home, there was too much damage and the home had to be demolished.  As a result, Harry not only lost his home but all of his belongings.

For all who know Harry, it will not surprise you that he has remained upbeat and positive through this whole thing.   No matter what 2020 has thrown at Harry he has not backed down.  He was one of the few bluegrass festival promoters to take on the big risk and expense to still put on a festival this year.

It's time for his friends and the entire bluegrass community to come together to help Harry out.   He has done so much for us and bluegrass that we owe him.  Even if you can only give a few dollars, this will help out so much.

All money raised will be given to Harry so he can get a new roof over his head and some of the necessary essentials to get life back to normal.
