Our beloved Dmitry (or as we call him Dima) has become paralyzed from the neck down in a tragic accident on his 38th birthday. Dima’s rehabilitation costs amount to $650k USD in order for him to get the spinal cord injury care he so urgently needs. We are asking for your help to support Dima in his road to potential recovery.

The Accident

On Sunday, June 4, 2022, Dima incurred a severe closed spinal cord injury as a result of falling into a pool. Dima’s injury is a Comminuted Fracture of the C6 vertebra, 3 degrees of compression with compression of the spinal cord, a Fragmentary fracture of the transverse process on the left C4, C5, and C6 vertebrae, and a complete violation of the conduction of the spinal cord. A team of experienced doctors from the Central City Clinical Hospital in Almaty, Kazakhstan ultimately saved his life, but unfortunately, Dima is now paralyzed from the neck down, unable to walk or use his hands.

We all know and love Dima as a strong, smart, ambitious, funny, and determined individual. He is a loving father to three small children, husband, son, friend, and colleague. Before his accident, Dima worked at the Improvado as their CTO, he is beloved by the staff and the Improvado team misses him dearly. We have absolutely no doubt that Dima will approach these medical challenges he now faces with the same passion and fortitude that he has approached everything else in life with, but he needs your help.

Dima’s Treatment

The first year of Dima’s treatment will be critical. After being discharged from the hospital in Almaty, Dima will have to spend months in a rehabilitation center, receiving care at all hours. Research and experience show that in some cases and under the supervision of qualified specialists, people with spinal cord injuries can partially recover their function but it is critical to do this early in the rehabilitation. These advances are usually achieved within the first twelve months of treatment and require a highly skilled team to work with Dima daily. Your contribution could mean the difference of Dima receiving the right exercises and rehabilitation and eventually regaining the use of his hands or legs.

Where Your Contribution Goes

If you have the opportunity, if you have any amount of money to spare, please consider supporting Dima and his family as they work through this very difficult time and help Dima recover. Your contribution will help cover the day-to-day medical care and therapy he needs when he is transferred to an inpatient facility that specializes in the treatment and rehabilitation of people with severe spinal cord injuries. Pending the ability to raise funds, Dima will be treated at the Rehaklinik Zihlschlacht clinic in Switzerland. The clinic has strong results in the aiding of recovery of patients with neck fractures and we don’t want Dima to miss his chance to live a more independent life. The money will initially be sent to Daniel Kravtsov, and he will send 100% of the contributions to Dima for the aforementioned expenses.
