Hi All Sci-Fi/Dystopian film fanatics!

My name is Edu Gana Otarola and I'm the producer of a Sci-Fi / Thriller short film called RAINING FROGS. I belong to a group of students from Vancouver Film School who have decided to pursue this very ambitious project and we need your help!

I am Chilean-Canadian, and I immigrated from Chile to Canada eight years. To be honest, it hasn't been an easy road. Anyone who has moved to a new country knows how hard it is to start over from scratch. But now, I’m at a point where I’m ready to get back to who I really am- a film producer.

In Chile I have produced several short films, as well as a feature length film called “La Isla de los Pinguinos”, (CNN Chile - Article promoting the feature Film) which was recently ranked as one the 20 best Chilean films of the last 10 years. (The 20 best Chilean films of the last decade) My main goal now is to build my career as a producer here in the Canadian film industry, and I believe this film can help advance the careers of everyone on the team.

Our director Shane Herron has written a fascinating script and we want to see his vision come to life! (About Shane Herron) He moved to Vancouver 3 years ago from Ireland and has created multiple successful projects since being here, with this being his biggest project to date.

Logline

When broke private detective Hughie takes a cash-heavy job to recover a stolen briefcase, he unknowingly becomes trapped inside a corporate-engineered time loop designed by the “Big Man” to postpone Judgement Day. Meanwhile, conflicted office worker Charlie who is monitoring the operation begins to question whether free will can exist inside a system designed to postpone humanity’s reckoning.

Director Vision

This film explores the idea that humanity builds systems to control what it fears most - uncertainty and the end of things. At its core, the story is not about time travel. It’s about control. Eden Control represents the institutions we rely on to structure reality: corporations, governments, and even religion. These systems promise safety and stability, but they often quietly limit freedom in the process. Hughie represents the average person unknowingly moving through a world shaped by forces beyond his understanding. Charlie represents the individual inside the system who begins to question its morality. The film will merge classic detective noir with a cheerful, pastel corporate office calmly managing the end of the world. Contrasting gritty black and white noir with an ominous overly pleasant and divine workplace.

The story ultimately asks a simple but unsettling question.

Is delaying the end of the world the same thing as saving it?
