Rainier’s road to recovery

Hello there, my name is Mandie and I’m starting this fundraiser to help our family in this time of need.

It all started one week ago today. Our family took Rainier and siblings to the aquarium to celebrate his fourth birthday. He suddenly got violently ill and we needed to leave immediately. We thought he just had a flu or a cold coming on and treated it as such. High fever, chills, vomiting, and extreme body, aches, and pains. That Monday evening I was called home from work by my husband who was rushing him to the ER. While we were there, they did a variety of tests, including 25 different viruses and strep, which all came back negative. The doctor figured it must be something viral that wasn’t in there panel and sent us home reassuring us to just keep alternate medication’s to keep him comfortable and it should pass. As days went on, alternating medication made him comfortable and it appeared he was getting better. On Thursday evening he woke up screaming in pain with a fever of 104. John and I rushed him to the ER once again. They finally did bloodwork and a chest x-ray. Unfortunately, the doctors found that he had pretty severe upper lobe pneumonia and a pocket of fluid on his lower lobe. We were then taken by ambulance too Penn State Hershey children’s Hospital to the pediatric intermediate care unit. He is currently under their care and continues recover. Due to all of this John and I have missed days of work. And of course I have to remain with him in the hospital and miss out on many days of work, which I don’t get compensated for. This has put our family in quite a predicament financially. If anybody could just give anything to help us out we would greatly appreciate it in our time of need. We continue to help Rainier fight on his road to recovery! We got this and things will look up! Thanks so much everyone.
