Rainbows Student Peer Group
Donation protected
A Rainbows Group for children, in grades 2nd - 8th, who reside in Park Ridge or Niles, is happy to provide a safe space for this newly proposed idea of an after school peer group session for students looking to connect and talk with other kids their age going through similar scenarios whether it be a divorce, separation, passing of a parent or loved one, etc.
While we have a donated space, the schools cannot cover the cost of each volunteer's 8-hour training course fee. That fee is just $160 per person. Once these gracious volunteers become trained adult facilitators for the peer group, they do not receive funds or any type of payment for their time and effort. It is truly a volunteer opportunity. One that our community desperately needs for students learning to cope.
Your generous donations will cover the cost of each training course for the adult facilitators needed. Any extra funds will be used for materials and supplies for fun projects we may use in the peer groups, during the sessions.
*Rainbows for all Children trains adult volunteers, (some of which can be current or retired teachers, social workers. parents, past Rainbow volunteers, etc), in community-based sites such as schools, faith-based organizations, libraries or community centers to lead age-specific support groups for children and teens, ages 3-18, who are grieving from some type of loss. These groups provide a safe environment that encourages communication while identifying, navigating and discussing difficult feelings that accompany loss. Their mission is to create a community that connects children with the support they need to navigate family changes, grief and/or heal from loss.
