Raine’s Storm Against Cancer

On Tuesday, January 14th, our sweet three year old Lorraine (Rainey) went in to get checked out for what we thought was a kidney infection from a possible UTI. After an ultrasound and following further scans, they discovered a tumor in her kidney that is covering an entire left side of her body. A cancerous 10cm sized Nephroblastoma.

We’ve been admitted since then, and Raine is getting ready to have surgery tomorrow, Friday the 17th, where they will remove the entire kidney and ureter, as well as getting a port placed in her chest for the chemo treatments to follow. She is a strong girl and in no pain, shockingly. I don’t know how she had this in her and hasn’t complained once but it just goes to show how strong she is.

This will begin the strenuous process for her through recovery and treatment, as well as our family as we are navigating all of this emotionally, physically, and financially. Her sisters miss her and we are unable to all be together right now.

Please keep our sweet Rainey girl in your thoughts - It’s a long journey ahead but she is resilient and a fighter, and we know she’ll kick cancers butt with a smile.
