Raimondi - Too Young to be Touched by Tragedy

Donation protected
My name is Thomas and I am raising money for Giancarlo Raimondi Jr and his family. I run the Highways Department for the City of Stamford in Connecticut. December of 2021 I was hiring for full-time positions and a young man came for an interview. He had been working for the City as a seasonal worker, with no benefits, for over 5 years at that point and finally had an opportunity for a full-time position.

He was young, energetic and had a friendly personality. During his interview it was discussed that he had already battled with brain cancer but it was in remission and he was ready, willing and able to work. Not wanting his history to hold him back and with good references from my colleagues I hired him. During his time with us, now having a job with benefits, he started building a life with his partner Erica and they had a beautiful baby girl Lucianna.

Within 10 months of finally getting a full-time job, starting to build a life and having a child, the brain cancer started to come back. Giancarlo has been fighting this disease for the past 7 months, unable to work, and physically declining. Watching him battle this with his family has been heartbreaking. Hope is alive but with cancer there is always the possibility of winning some of the battles but losing the war.

He is not even 32 years old yet and may not see that age. His daughter is less than a year old. Being a father myself and watching his parents see this monster of a disease suck the life out of their child stabs me right in the heart.

I tried to help him build a future and this cancer is robbing him of that opportunity which is why the fundraiser has been started. To help those closest to him deal with the situation and to especially help a little girl, who may never know her father, have the best possible start to a bright future. Donate what you can, every little bit helps, or at the very least take this story and appreciate the time and people within your life.

Thank you

Update:
There has been an amazing outpouring of support on our first day with more outreach to be made, so at the risk of being charitably greedy, and not wanting to leave anything on the table for "Little Lucci", I am raising the goal.

Thanks again to everyone.

Update #2:
I am sorry to say that the tragedy has become all too real. Giancarlo passed this weekend. Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.
