Railway Suicide Prevention with Samaritans
Donation protected
36 stops. 41 km. 1 lifesaving call every 10 seconds.
Hi, we’re Polina and Shanaya and this November we are walking the circle line to raise money for the Samaritans Charity rail industry suicide prevention programme.
Over the last year, there were 236 suicides on the British rail network. On average, there are 60 suicides on the London Underground each year. Samaritans has partnered up with Network Rail to reduce suicide on railways and also to support those affected by them. This programme helps spread mental health awareness, train and support rail staff, and further contributes to their helplines which save lives every day.
It is clear how much support is required to show people they aren’t alone and that help is available, and to help those who are affected by railway suicides as well. It would mean so much to us if you joined us in making a difference.
At Samaritans, volunteers provide confidential, non-judgemental, emotional support to anyone who is struggling to cope. Anyone can contact them for free on 115 123. They pick up 400 lifesaving calls each hour, 24/7. They need all the help they can get to safe lives.
