Railway Flats, Loveland, CO - Lease Break Fee's

Hello, My name is Stephen, I tragically lost my partner Sam in a plane crash in Boulder County, Colorado two weeks ago (https://www.cnn.com/2022/09/17/us/colorado-boulder-county-plane-crash-dead). We have his funeral expenses covered, however, our apartment complex is refusing to waive any lease break fees, which come to just over $2,000, plus my remaining rent which I can pay. I can't bare to live there anymore now that he's gone and so I am breaking my lease. The lack of compassion the office staff has for the whole situation is appalling. I expressed concerns about being able to pay it and they said I have 21 days before it goes to collections. I was hoping someone could help me with this. This is honestly the last thing I want to be doing right now.
