Railroad Kitten Needs Help

While working on the Alaska Railroad on June 28, 2025 we spotted a tiny baby cat stuck between the tracks. The kitten was crying and unable to get over the rails to get free. Unfortunately the train was unable to stop at the time. After making it home to Anchorage that night we were unable to get the kitten off our minds. We woke up early the next day and drove to Willow, hoping against all odds that maybe it would still be there and still alive.

To our absolute astonishment the kitten was still in the same place 18 hours later, despite several trains driving over her, any number of predators that could have taken her overnight, not to mention just exhausting herself crying non-stop.

She’s a survivor! And we are so grateful we made the trip out to Willow on a hope and prayer that the kitten was still alive. However, this an expense we very much had not anticipated.

We would be so grateful for any help we could get to make sure this baby goes to the vet and gets a few necessities until we decide what her next steps are.

Currently we hoping to fund an emergency vet visit to get the kitty checked out, plus any treatments the vet suggests, some formula, and a potty set up. We don’t currently know how much her vet bill will end up being, but any additional money will be donated to local cat rescue organizations.
