Raidens Battle with Kidney Disease

Donation protected

Hi my name is Jenna Jackson and I am Raiden Delaney’s Aunt. Raiden is a thirteen year old boy who has a heart of gold, would give anyone the shirt off his back, a loving son, brother, nephew, cousin, grandson and friend. He is a respected student at St. Francis of Asisi School in Slave Lake and right now he is fighting kidney disease.

Last year Raiden became ill just like any normal teenager but experienced an infection that attacked his kidneys which caused them to fail. Since then Raidens doctors were not happy with the way his kidneys were healing and ordered a biopsy to further investigate which uncovered some damage that was irreversible and he would be put on medication to help manage.

A few weeks ago he came down with the flu and his kidneys took another big hit and stopped functioning. Raidens kidneys failed and he was flown to the Stollery in Edmonton where he was in Intensive Care.
Right now, Raiden is waiting results of a biopsy and has had a permanent dialysis line put in so eventually he can at least leave the hospital. He and his family have a long journey ahead of them and at a minimum in the hospital for the next month with continued care and treatment in the years to come.

Raiden will likely need a kidney transplant at some point in this journey but for now he has to either relocate to Edmonton or have a permanent dialysis machine at home which is very restrictive and complex for a thirteen year old boy.

Raiden has 5 other brothers and sisters at home and two of them are twin boys only 1.5 years old. His Mom remains by his side and hopefully in the days a head they will be transferred to Ronald McDonald house where they can spend more time as a family and have some normalcy.

As we know, medical crisis can cause a lot of financial strain and stress. Travel back and fourth will be very expensive and having his big family close is so important not only for Raidens health but for everyone to have each other during this difficult time.

I am hoping to ease any financial strain this may have on my family and every little bit helps in these situations so thank you for taking the time to read and or donate to our amazing boy Raiden and his journey back to health and hopefully home with all of us!
