RagTag 2021 - Fall Festival Tour
INTERMISSION IS OVER! CIRQUE US WILL BE BACK ON THE ROAD THIS FALL!
Cirque Us is excited to announce the revival of "RagTag: A Circus in Stitches" which will be performing live this September! Since 2016, Cirque Us has set out to spread circus magic. Whether you're dancing on a wire or swinging through the air, circus is the purest testament that everyday people are capable of achieving extraordinary feats. This unique medium coveys the necessity of human connections and relationships which uphold the community around us. Moreover, through circus we demonstrate that the impossible is possible, that through trust and communication we can hold one another up, and with an open mind and heart, we can be the best versions of ourselves, both on and off stage.
RagTag is a show about a group of threadbare, yarn-spinning acrobats. We are patching together a new crew of knot-tying aerialists, loopy jugglers, and musicians that pull at your heart strings, tied together with comedy that will leave you in stitches. It has been more than a year and a half since our last performance, so we need your help to patch us together and get us back on the road!
BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE! We've been accepted to not one, not two, but THREE different festivals! These festivals give us the ability to share our work not only with the circus and performing arts community, but with producers and agents that can help bring our company and show to the next level! (Just think of all the circus magic we will be able to share with the world!) These stages will be Cirque Us's largest platform to date, and we are excited for the new opportunities that these festivals will provide.
These festivals prove to be very beneficial for small companies like ours, and because this tour came to fruition suddenly, we will need support from our community. In addition to festival fees, we are raising money for the following...
-A rental van and gas to transport 7 artists, 2 company members & circus equipment
-New costume pieces for new cast members
-Housing for the duration of the festivals
-Marketing & press materials
-Updated sets and show props
-Insurance
-Website and other maintenance fees
Calling this past year challenging is an understatement. For over a year our stages have sat empty, our costumes folded and packed away, and our trapezes and tight wires collecting dust. Just like all members of the greater arts community, we've been waiting, planning and dreaming of the day we get to return to the stage. We have a tremendous opportunity to turn those dreams into reality. We are extremely grateful for the chance to dust off the cobwebs, set up the rig and take our show on the road. But what we are more grateful for is our community. Our community that has cheered for us since our first benefit show in 2016 all the way through our live stream shows of 2020. We are grateful for your continued support, your belief in our dreams, and, as always, allowing us to spread circus magic. From the bottom of our patchwork hearts...
