My name is Kevin Burns and I've written a play with music called Raglan Rogues.
It will bring the characters of Brendan Behan and Patrick Kavanagh together on the same stage for the first time at The Loft The Purty Kitchen Dún Laoghaire on August 12th, 13th and 14th 2026.
The play explores the tumultous relationship between writers Patrick Kavanagh and Brendan Behan and tells the story behind their much loved songs On Raglan Road and The Aul Triangle.
Despite their talent, for many years the writers found it very difficult to have their work either published or produced, so they would understand why we need your support to put on this show.
All funds raised will go towards the running costs of the production including fees for our talented cast, director, musical director and writer as well as rehearsal and venue costs.
You can give whatever you can €10, €25, €50, €100 or any other amount.
This production is almost ready to go after the script and score have been developed over a number of years with a cast reading at The Mill Theatre in Dundrum in 2025 and at The Patrick Kavanagh Weekend in his hometown of Inniskeen in 2024.
Here's a video featuring the cast crew and audience on the day of The Mill Theatre peformance.
You can find out more about the production here or keep informed about tickets here
Perhaps you love either, or both men, and their work and you want their story to be told. Or maybe you can recognise the passion and talent of the team behind Raglan Rogues and you want to support us. Supporting us means making a valuable contribution to an original work in an new venue with emerging talented members of the artistic community.
Thank you and see you at The Purty Kitchen in August!
