Who are we?
Hello!
We are Monica Ogden, Tony Adams, and KP (the artist formerly known as Ann-Bernice Thomas), and together we make up Rage Sweater Theatre Productions. We are an unapologetically loud, QT2IBPOC, non-binary, disabled, theatre company, whose work focuses on socio-political activism, and sharing the stories that deserve to be told. We mix storytelling, stand-up comedy, movement, and song, to showcase our stories, as well as bring the audience together in our practice of being together.
In 2016 we won the Pick of the Fringe for Bravest show, with Monica vs The Internet - one of the two shows we are bringing to the road this year, as well as LUBDUB which has toured throughout Canada in 2017 and 2018.
Individually, KP was the 2016 Youth Poet Laureate of Victoria, is the winner of the 2017 VACCS Community Recognition Award, and is currently working on a book of photos, essays, and poems entitled Suburban Hoodrat set for release October, 2019.
Monica (she/they) is an award winning Filipina storyteller and a past guest panelist at Emerald City ComicCon and Geek Girl Con. She is an anti=racist feminist actor, and YouTuber, and created the show Fistful of Feminism on Youtube.
Tony (he/him, they/them) is a theatre creator and facilitator. Along with Monica Ogden, Tony is the Co-Artistic Director of NickelPumpernickel, a theatre company dedicated to fusing activism, protest, and theatre.
The Tour
As Rage Sweater Theatre Productions, we won the Canadian Association of Fringe Festivals Lottery! That means that we are taking Monica vs. The Internet & LUB DUB on tour to Toronto, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Edmonton, Victoria and Vancouver this summer 2019!
We are so lucky to have won the CAFF lottery, but unfortunately, we have to pay an entrance fee for each festival up front, per show we bring. That means before we can make any money from performance, we have to enter the deep hole of debt, leaving us without any room left to pay for the rest of the tour.
This is where you come in!
We need your help!
We are looking to fundraise 25% of our total costs of the tour. So far, we have funded all the expenses ourselves, but there are still many more to come. With your donations we will be able to book flights, produce excellent promo material (posters, handbills etc.), and eat food so we don't die before we share our art.
Here is a breakdown of our costs.
*indicate projected or very close estimates
Festival fees: $7682
Travel (planes, trains, boats, and buses): $2995*
Print Material: $1550
Designers/Design Fees: $1023
Per Diems (food, phone bills, tampons/pads, birth control/prescription medications): $2250
Set and Show Materials (projector, screen) : $500
We have currently spent $9608 of these dollars and really need some help!
Anything you can give helps us bring art and stories that centre people of colour across the country for new audiences to see. If you can't donate, please consider sharing our campaign with everyone you know on your social media! Use the hashtags #FilipinxFringe, #FringeofColour, #MonicavstheInternet and #LUBDUB!
Thank you so much for funding Monica vs. The Internet and LUB DUB. We will make you proud!
